National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month

The month of May is widely recognized as National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. We’re excited to join the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and many others to help spread awareness for this devastating disease.

What National CF Awareness Month means to Good Start Genetics

At Good Start, we provide genetic screening that identifies gene mutations that could lead to having a child with cystic fibrosis (CF). We offer patients actionable results reports and opportunities to discuss these results with our genetic counselors, and ultimately it is up to the patient to decide what to do with this information. Knowing whether you’re a carrier or not for a disorder like CF can be empowering. CF affects roughly one thousand babies born each year.

CF Awareness Month is very important to our team because:

  • It serves as a poignant reminder that our job is not done and there is still a long journey ahead to raise awareness and create a dialogue around CF.
  • It’s a motivating force that shows us our work is making a difference. After all, Good Start Genetics is committed to helping build healthy families.

How we’re recognizing National CF Awareness Month

The color purple represents CF awareness and support for the entire community, so check us out on Facebook and Twitter and you’ll see the purple ribbon added to our logos as one more way to help ignite conversation. Our dedication to the CF community runs company-wide, so we all wore purple to kick off the start of the month. Check out our team photo below!

Since knowledge is power, we’ll be sharing lots of content about CF throughout the month here on our blog and over on Twitter and Facebook.

Finally, we want to support National CF Awareness Month and give back in a way that hopefully gets people talking (and tweeting!). For every retweet we get of this tweet and every share of this Facebook post during the month of May, we’re going to donate $1 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (up to $5,000 total). So go ahead — share this post and get your friends and family talking about CF!
